[News & Book = Reporter Song Yeong-du] Medical journalist and broadcaster Hye-Gul Hong has launched a direct strike by expressing his principled views toward the recently successful film 'The Assassins'.

On the 27th, Hye-Gul Hong posted on his SNS, "The movie 'The Assassins' is uncomfortable," adding, "While the bereaved family members are still alive, is it right to insult the deceased, whom half the population respects or acknowledges, with forced conspiracy theories?"

He raised his voice in criticism, saying, "It is easy if you put yourself in their shoes," and "A script that would never be allowed in one's own camp is praised as the fiction pursued by art when it comes from the opposing camp. It is double standards."

He further elaborated through comments on the post, stating, "In a 2025 Gallup survey, 62% of the population evaluated that President Park Chung-hee did many things well," and "Mrs. Yuk Young-soo has been picked as the most beloved First Lady by Koreans in almost all historical surveys."

As Hye-Gul Hong's remarks became known, a debate has been ongoing among netizens, with various opinions clashing, such as "I agree" and "Thank you for speaking your mind," alongside others like "It is right to research more in detail before writing."

Meanwhile, the movie 'The Assassins' is a work dealing with the assassination of Mrs. Yuk Young-soo that occurred during the Liberation Day commemorative event on August 15, 1974. Directed by Hur Jin-ho and starring actors Yoo Hae-jin, Park Hae-il, and Lee Min-ho, it has garnered attention; since its release on the 23rd, it surpassed 1 million viewers in just 4 days and has recorded a cumulative audience of approximately 1.56 million as of the 27th.
